Just wondering... this post is
published on the Red Hook Rooster Forum. Is that Judge Jeff
Martin? Jeff if in fact it is you, isn't it a bit inappropriate
to be offering up critical perspectives as an impartial jurist?
"Re: Meadowbrook Estates
I too noticed that significant segments of the minutes have been
ommitted, specifically, the ethical concerns. If there is
nothing suspicious about the ethical questions, than I cannot
understand why this part has been removed. Perhaps it was done
in error. I cannot imagine how at least 3 of the board members;
Tim Ross, John Douglas, and Jim Hegestedder could be responsible
to make a decision for an applicant that they play poker with.
Unlike other
members of this community who may run into each other in
passing, this was a private poker party hosted by Jim Ross, Tims
brother, which took place just about a week prior to the last
hearing, and according to Tim Ross, the applicant isn't just
someone he knows, but he stated that he played poker with him at
least four times recently.
This is a pretty big project and I cannot imagine the board
members and the applicant NOT discussing it while spending time
together at the private poker party.
Though this is a small town our judges manage not to put
themselves in a conflict of interest situation. I've seen them
recuse themselves in these type of situations.

Just minutes after we
published this article, Jeff's wife, Michelle, seems to have
clarified the issue for us in her own Rooster posting. Perhaps
many more visitors to the Rooster thought as we did. Thank you
for the note Michelle. So who is J. Martin? This is just another
case for clear forum identification when commenting.
Dear J. Martin:
As the wife of Town Judge Jeffrey C. Martin I appreciate your
comments. However, just so everyone on this group is totally
clear - I would like all to know that your comment was written
by you and NOT by my husband as he is not a member of this group
and is not involved in these discussions. The wording of your
email may be confusing in this regard, to some.
Thank you,
Michelle Martin
